Southeastern lower Michigan is a great place for birding especially during migration in mid May. This spring I saw Connecticut Warblers in two neighborhood parks right here in Ann Arbor. The University's Nichols Arboretum is the best birding site any time of year. Point Pelee, Crane Creek, and Rondeau Provincial Park are less than two hours away by car. Ann Arbor is also home to a very active discussion group and Audubon chapter whose members share up-to-the-minute information about birds they have seen locally and on field trips in the state, nation, continent, or abroad.

This year I led field trips in three neighborhood parks. I also administer the Stinchfield Woods Breeding Birds Survey. When I'm not at work or in the field, here are some birding web sites I visit:

Rouge River Birding Observatory
The observatory does terrific work banding and surveying birds that breed and migrate in the natural area of the University of Michigan, Dearborn
